These terms govern your use of the Hyphen app and website. By creating an account or using Hyphen, you agree to them. Please read them carefully — they include important limitations.
By accessing or using Hyphen, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Hyphen is a co-parenting organization tool that provides a shared calendar, messaging, expense tracking, document storage, child information, optional location sharing, and related features. We may add, change or remove features over time to improve the service.
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for the activity that takes place under it. Sign-in is passwordless, using a one-time code sent to your email address; keep access to that email secure.
Hyphen exists to reduce conflict, not to enable it. You agree not to use the app to harass, threaten, defame, or abuse another person, to share unlawful content, to infringe anyone's rights, or to attempt to access data belonging to households you are not a member of. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.
You retain ownership of the content you create in Hyphen (messages, photos, documents, etc.). You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display that content solely to operate the service for you and the members of your household. You are responsible for the content you add and for having the right to share it.
Hyphen offers optional AI assistance that can suggest a calmer rewording of a message before you send it. These suggestions are provided "as is", are always optional, and never prevent you from sending your message. You remain solely responsible for what you choose to communicate.
The optional child-device location feature must only be set up by a parent or legal guardian, for a child of whom they have lawful custody, and in accordance with applicable law. You are responsible for ensuring your use of location features is lawful in your jurisdiction and appropriate for your family situation.
Some features are available through Hyphen Pro, an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple App Store account. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Any free trial is clearly presented before purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with App Store policy.
Hyphen is an organizational tool. It does not provide legal, financial, medical or psychological advice, and nothing in the app constitutes such advice. Features such as the certified history export are intended to help you organize information; they do not guarantee admissibility or any particular outcome in legal proceedings. Always consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.
The Hyphen app, website, branding and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or to copy, modify or redistribute the app, except as permitted by law.
You may stop using Hyphen and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service unlawfully. On termination, your right to use the app ends; certain shared records may remain available to the other parent in your household.
Hyphen is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every requirement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hyphen will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
These terms are governed by the laws of France, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
